1. Some historians maintain that World War II was an extension or continuation of World War 1. List several arguments supporting this idea. The Treaty of Versailles put Germany on terms at the end of WWI which left Germany bitter and left a seed which started WWII at the end of the terms of the Treaty.
2. Between the two world wars, the free nations of the world followed a policy of appeasement toward Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and the military leaders of Japan. They gave in to the demands of these leaders in order to prevent a war. Was appeasing these leaders a wise decision on the part of the free world? Why or why not? All the appeasing done was delay what was coming, it was done in hopes of avoiding a war but nothing could've stopped it from occurring. Japan was not appeased at all due to them being a major contributor to the Allies and left them out of the settlement. In fact, it made Japan's drive stronger to drive the Europeans out of Asia which was one of the Japanese Empire goals.
3. How do you think Germany, Italy, and Japan viewed the appeasing attitude of other nations? They viewed the attitude of other nations as a weakness which made Germany, Italy and Japan realise they had more power than what they originally thought and invaded several nations with no second thoughts because of the low attitude of appeasement.
4. The League of Nations was established as a provision of the Treaty of Versailles after World War I. Its purpose was to prevent future wars. Do you think a stronger League of Nations would have prevented World War II? Why or why not? The League of Nations was created to prevent WWI from occurring again. There were 63 countries involved in this League of Nations like Canada, Australia, the British Empire and Italy and so on. America refused to join the League and Germany and Russia were not allowed to join due to Germany starting WWI and Russia had a communist government that generated fear in western Europe. The 2 most powerful countries in the League were Britain and France. The 3 most powerful countries were not involved in the League of Nations.
